The Politics of Person Reference: Third-person forms in English, German, and French

Dear members of DiscourseNet,

I am happy to let you know that my book, The Politics of Person Reference, is now out: https://benjamins.com/catalog/pbns.320.

I closely examine British, German, and French parliamentary debates, and show how the third person (‘some’, ‘one’, etc.) can be used to target both absent and present participants.

The book is of interest to researchers and graduate students who explore interpersonal pragmatics, political discourse, and contrastive discourse analysis.

Best wishes,

Naomi Truan, University of Leipzig (Germany)
